Fusion Love With Vesa

Black Corset Kurti : Vesa

India's diversity in cultures, languages, religions is shown in its varieties of garments, with each state epitomized by their state of art embroidery, patterns and varieties in fabric.‘Vesa’ tries to pull both the strings along of western and Indian looks and create a fusion. Indo-Western garments provide an elegant along with trendy appearance, without having losing the touch involving Indian culture, making them suitable pertaining to wearing at all kinds involving occasions.

This outfit by ‘Vesa’ is a  traditional Indian embroidered piece seamlessly fused with westerns silhouettes that are the hallmark of modern design. The intricate detailing and flowy fabrics and perfect use of black makes it stylish and unique.
I have paired this beautifully designed piece by Vesa with a body con skirt as well as printed pants, thus giving it a totally new look.
Strictly fusion wear is not just short kurtis combined with trousers, but also Indian textiles and embroideries adapted to Western silhouettes and shapes, for instance capris, shirts, skirts and even trousers. The best thing about fusion wear it is that, it is open to so many different interpretations. Even Western designers are drawing upon Indian design elements for inspiration.
Stay tuned for another post by Envy for Vesa.

Beau et Belle!- Its All About Monsoon

The summer heat has made us perspire to such an extent that we crave for a season that isn’t a favourite to many- Monsoon blues are here again, and it’s back to spending hours not only for the ladies but also for the men! Squinting into a dark cupboard wondering what to wear, what would look good after stepping into dark oily puddles, after being splashed by careless vehicles and after you’ve just got caught unawares in a cloud burst. The angst that arrives along with this season can primarily be blamed on the muck and tardiness that tags along with it. Unexpected showers disrupt our plans. But once again, fashion saves the day. The sheer happiness of opening a bright umbrella or slipping into those trendy boots is a silver lining on that big gloomy cloud. This edition of ‘Its all about monsoon’will be about the various styling tips for women as well as the men.

Styling tips for ladies

The mantra for this season is ‘keep it simple, keep it short, and keep it colourful’. You know how cumbersome it is trying to make it around the city wearing long pants, or worse still, full-length skirts with pools of water fast flooding around you. And you also know how embarrassing it is to be caught wearing something flimsy that goes more transparent with every drop of water.

If you are donning formals, go for shirts or long tops with short or elbow-length sleeves, and pick knee length skirts. Wearing white is inviting disaster, so splurge on some bright colours like blues, reds and jewel tones, and avoid layers altogether.
Pick bold and happy colours like fuchsia pink, bright orange, peacock blue, lime green, sun yellow and cherry red.
As for your make-up and hair style to complete your ready-for-the-rains look, use only waterproof makeup, use soft shades with rosy undertones for your cheeks, dramatize your eyes a little with funky coloured eyeliners, and give your lips a matte look – no gloss. Since hair is almost always a problem during the monsoons, don’t choose styles that require your hair to be straightened, crimped or curled. All that dampness will make it limp and shapeless in no time.

Umbrellas can be boring and unfashionable. So, let’s make them flirty and fun. Choose a chic and stylish umbrella; add a twist by picking one with a fun handle or a fashionable print. Experiment with shapes and colour.

Styling tips for men

The mud and the splash during the monsoons can definitely make you irritable and you may beat your head thinking what to wear. This is especially true for men who need to get out every day, but there are ways in which you can look nice during monsoon. You want to avoid getting soaked in the rain without compromising on your looks. In places where downpours do not happen in a set pattern, sudden rain can make you run for cover if you are not prepared. Guys who do not mind getting drenched can do with some tips on dressing well this monsoon.
Light up the cloudy gloom with an array of colours. Not to say that rain is not welcome after the scorching heat of summer, with each year setting new records for high temperatures. With a wardrobe full of soothing yet colourful fabrics and exotic hues, you can make up for the lost brightness in the weather. Cotton short-shirts and printed T-shirts should definitely adorn your wardrobe this monsoon. Apart from casual shirts, you can get casual field jackets too to set the right match between sophistication and a fun, relaxed look. There is no dearth of colours for you to choose from. Earthly shades such as brown and those of pink, purple and orange help you match the season. One of the colours that give a unique monsoon feeling is beige.
If you want to avoid getting your favourite pants stained from muddy water, Bermudas would come in handy. Opt for colours, such as pink, yellow and blue as these can make you bloom when going out in cloudy weather. Colours such as white and cream gray should be avoided.

I hope this post gave you a few styling ideas! Please give your feedback. I love reading your emails and so feel free to give suggestions or ask questions!  Thank you so much for all your support.

Its All About Monsoon- Daily Skin Care & Beauty Essentials

It’s time to thank the rain Gods because the monsoon season has finally arrived. After sweltering heat of summer, the crisp air and cool weather is a much-needed relief. If its monsoon and you’re in India, there are some things that you just have to do. Like getting totally drenched in the first heavy showers, playing football, wearing crazy colors that brighten up the day, go for drives, treat yourself to some yummy piping hot chocolate, curl up on the bed with a novel or go for a trek. I will be posting three editions- monsoon skincare, monsoon fashion and monsoon hair care  on the blog. In this post I will be sharing my favourite monsoon beauty tips and the next edition of ‘Its all about monsoon’ would have the fashion tips for this season.

 Oily Skin

Even though the summer heat is almost gone, facial skin tends to become oily due to the humid weather. Those with oily skin should be extremely careful during the monsoons. The skin tends to get oilier which eventually lead to breakouts. Here are some tips as to how you can take care of your skin this season.
If you have oily skin, make sure to use a light-weight moisturiser after bath.
I would recommend Neutrogena's oil free moisturizer which is specifically created for people with oily skin.

With the changing weather, you also have to change your skin care routine. The damp and humid weather takes a toll on your skin — no matter what your skin type is. Pollution, dirt, grime and the harmful UV rays of the sun are the main reasons why your skin is prone to damage during the rainy season. Scrub your face twice in a week to remove dirt and grime.  Himalaya's Neem Scrub is best for Oily Indian Skin.  It removes excess oil from the skin's surface. The natural ingredients cleanse, nourish and moisturize your skin to make it soft, fresh and radiant.

Before stepping out in the sun, apply a water or a gel-based sunscreen with an SPF 20 and above, to avoid tanning. Lotus Herabals Suncreen Gel  effectively blocks the UVA & UVB rays of the sun and helps preserve the youthfulness of your skin. It also protects from direct exposure to sun for shorter period.

Use a floral toner before bedtime to keep your skin hydrated. Opt for light-weight and water-proof make-up during this time. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner freshens and removes the last traces of make-up, dirt and oil, leaving skin feeling soft, fresh and ready for moisturising

Dry Skin

If you have dry skin, during the monsoons, your skin tends to get drier and dehydrated. You need to be cautious at this time. The skin tends to get flaky and itchy. Use a good moisturising lotion or cream to keep your skin healthy and nourished. Apply a heavy-weight sunscreen with SPF 30 or more before you step out. 'Vichy's Capital Soliel'  has a shine free and non-greasy finish.

Cleansing the skin is extremely important for those with dry skin. Use a cream based cleanser to keep your skin hydrated and a toner to keep it moisturised. Neutrogena's Deep Clean Cream Cleanser, cleanses deep down into pores—dissolving dirt, oil and makeup. It rinses clean, without leaving any pore-clogging residue.

During the monsoons, foundations work best for those with dry skin. Opt for water-proof make-up for this season. Mac's Pro Longwear Foundation, another water-resistant product! This foundation looks light and natural, but stays put throughout the day and night.

Combination skin (My Skin Type)

This is a tricky skin type — a combination of both dry and oily. For those with combination skin, cleansing is extremely important. Make sure to use a gentle moisturising non-soap cleanser to strip away excess oil while also moisturising and hydrating the dry areas on the skin.

I would recommend Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (my all time favourite) Originally formulated for dermatologists, this cleanser is gentle on your skin and sensitive to your skin’s needs.

Scrub your face at least twice a week to remove dust and blackheads.
My mother introduced me to St Ives – Blemish Fighting Facial Scrub during my school days. She made sure I scrubbed every saturday and since then its been a habit to use it regularly. It smells gorgeous and feels really cleansing. My skin feels and looks amazing after my scrub sessions!

Lastly moisturise twice in a day with light-weight moisturiser (Neutrogena's oil free Moisturizer)
and make sure to apply a gel-based sunscreen with an SPF 15 or more(Lotus Herabals Suncreen Gel) , before going out in the sun. While choosing make-up, make sure you opt for the mineral range, as this works the best for combination skin.

Hope this post helps you guys to take care of your skin this season! I would love to hear your beauty tips too!
Next Post would be about Mosnoon Fashion!
