It’s time to thank the rain Gods because the monsoon season has finally arrived. After sweltering heat of summer, the crisp air and cool weather is a much-needed relief. If its monsoon and you’re in India, there are some things that you just have to do. Like getting totally drenched in the first heavy showers, playing football, wearing crazy colors that brighten up the day, go for drives, treat yourself to some yummy piping hot chocolate, curl up on the bed with a novel or go for a trek. I will be posting three editions- monsoon skincare, monsoon fashion and monsoon hair care on the blog. In this post I will be sharing my favourite monsoon beauty tips and the next edition of ‘Its all about monsoon’ would have the fashion tips for this season.
Oily Skin
Even though the summer heat is
almost gone, facial skin tends to become oily due to the humid weather. Those
with oily skin should
be extremely careful during the monsoons. The skin tends to get oilier which
eventually lead to breakouts. Here are some tips as to how you can take care of
your skin this season.
If you have oily skin, make sure to use a light-weight moisturiser after bath.

I would
recommend Neutrogena's oil free moisturizer which is specifically
created for people with oily skin.

With the changing weather, you also have to change your skin care routine. The damp and humid weather takes a toll on your skin — no matter what your skin type is. Pollution, dirt, grime and the harmful UV rays of the sun are the main reasons why your skin is prone to damage during the rainy season. Scrub your face twice in a week to remove dirt and grime. Himalaya's Neem Scrub is best for Oily Indian Skin. It removes excess oil from the skin's surface. The natural ingredients cleanse, nourish and moisturize your skin to make it soft, fresh and radiant.

Before stepping out in the sun, apply a water or a gel-based sunscreen with an SPF 20 and above, to avoid tanning. Lotus Herabals Suncreen Gel effectively blocks the UVA & UVB rays of the sun and helps preserve the youthfulness of your skin. It also protects from direct exposure to sun for shorter period.

Dry Skin
If you have dry skin, during the monsoons, your skin tends to get drier and dehydrated. You need to be cautious at this time. The skin tends to get flaky and itchy. Use a good moisturising lotion or cream to keep your skin healthy and nourished. Apply a heavy-weight sunscreen with SPF 30 or more before you step out. 'Vichy's Capital Soliel' has a shine free and non-greasy finish.

Cleansing the skin is extremely important for those with dry skin. Use a cream based cleanser to keep your skin hydrated and a toner to keep it moisturised. Neutrogena's Deep Clean Cream Cleanser, cleanses deep down into pores—dissolving dirt, oil and makeup. It rinses clean, without leaving any pore-clogging residue.

During the monsoons, foundations work best for those with dry skin. Opt for water-proof make-up for this season. Mac's Pro Longwear Foundation, another water-resistant product! This foundation looks light and natural, but stays put throughout the day and night.

cleanser is gentle on your skin and sensitive to your skin’s needs.

Scrub your face at least twice a week to remove dust and blackheads.
My mother introduced me to St Ives – Blemish Fighting Facial Scrub during my school days. She made sure I scrubbed every saturday and since then its been a habit to use it regularly. It smells gorgeous and feels really cleansing. My skin feels and looks amazing after my scrub sessions!

Lastly moisturise twice in a day with light-weight moisturiser (Neutrogena's oil free Moisturizer)
and make sure to apply a gel-based sunscreen with an SPF 15 or more(Lotus Herabals Suncreen Gel) , before going out in the sun. While choosing make-up, make sure you opt for the mineral range, as this works the best for combination skin.
