When I talk about
reimagining clothes, I'm not even talking about crazy things like using dresses
as skirts or altering a garment or anything like that. I'm talking
about simple things. I had such a limited view of a
garment that the way I saw it on the rack was the only way I understood I could
wear it. What I learned from my stalking escapade was that I had more
control of the clothes than I thought, even without alterations.
Don't take a
garment at face value. Don't disregard an item because it's too baggy or
too long. Play around with clothes and see if you can make them work for
different scenarios. Just like the way I am playing this coat with my casual
red dress. These two pieces are so versatile, trust me I can pair both of them
in 10 different ways. As you can tell, there are a LOT of options you can
use to make a garment work for you.
Also don’t be afraid to wear light and colorful hues,
you can a la Blair Waldorf. – pastels are one of fall’s surprising trends so
feel free to use a piece or two from your spring and summer wardrobe for your
layering needs. Being a girl has its perks and
disadvantages. For one, shopping is much more fun because women’s style and
fashion is more varied compared to men’s and there are more style, prints,
patterns, colors and designs to choose from.
Until then, go play
with your clothes!
